PRESCHOOL GOALS
The predominant goal for the children in the Preschool is socialization. We provide
opportunities for the children to demonstrate and practice their newly developing
self-help skills. Children at this stage of development are learning to
take turns, share and develop friendships. They are developing listening skills and
learning to follow directions. They are starting to understand the purpose and
function of rules and work as a class to develop their own classroom rules.
The children are learning to interact in a group and developing the skills to enter and
leave a group at will. They practice opening and participating in discussions by
asking questions,
often ones to which they already know the answers. We provide them opportunities to
explore and learn about their environment to help them develop the concept of cause and
effect. Through the socialization process, the children are developing independence.
