An Innovative Approach to Traditional
Education
Lake Shore Prep's faculty offers an innovative approach to learning, with teachers
encouraged to promote exploration and discovery with active, hands-on learning that is
based on the children's interests. They solve real life problems, so learning that

meaningful. Students experience a variety of structured and non-structured
activities throughout the day, including lessons in reading, math, writing, science,
social studies, spelling, gym, Spanish, art, ballet, music and computers.
Learning is based on the early childhood
educational philosophies of John Dewey, who believed that children learn best by doing as
opposed to being lectured to, and Piaget's guiding concept that "play is the work of
the child."
